The Erasmus+ Sport funded “Empowering athletes through Employability and Entrepreneurship” project was kicked-off in Porto on 27 and 28 April 2023. Representatives of partners gathered for the first time to lay the basis of the initiative. The consortium is made up of ISCAP and SJFP from Portugal, CEIPES from Italy, TUM from Germany, TEMPO FINITO from Spain, and BAIS from Hungary.
The primary objectives of the project are to upskill young athletes with entrepreneurial skills, promote education in and through sport, and transfer knowledge and competencies from coaches and sport instructors to different target groups.
During the two-day meeting, the partners presented their expertise, provided updates on desk research and literature review, survey structure and key dates, and aligned research and strategies. The consortium is also working on the visual identity of the project, as well as developing social media channels and the website.
The partners also had the opportunity to hear from two guest speakers, Mário Henrique, a former athlete and current team management consultant, and Anselmo Cardoso, who spoke about strategies for dual careers for athletes.
The SPORT4E project has the potential to make considerable impact by providing young athletes with the necessary skills to combine their sporting career with employment and achieve a healthy work-life balance.
